Paris Saint-Germain will likely offer a contract worth €200 million per year to Kylian Mbappe to fend off the interest from Real Madrid.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Kylian Mbappe remains the subject of interest from Real Madrid. But Paris Saint-Germain will soon offer him a lucrative contract to fend off Los Blancos. The Ligue 1 champions are working on a five-year deal worth €200 million per year.

Kylian Mbappe is arguably the best player in the world right now, often scoring goals for fun for his club and country. The Frenchman enjoyed an excellent 2022/23 campaign, where he nearly guided France to a second successive World Cup triumph. But the summer transfer window was tumultuous for him as PSG did not take him on the pre-season tour to Asia.

Mbappe’s reluctance to sign a new contract and forego his loyalty bonus rubbed PSG the wrong way. And reports in July suggested Les Parisiens had put the 24-year-old up for sale this past summer. But subsequent talks between the two parties went well amid interest from Real Madrid and several other clubs.

PSG thus reintegrated the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner into the first-team squad. And he has started the new season well, scoring five goals in three outings thus far. But Mbappe’s future remains uncertain, as he has entered the final year of his contract with the reigning Ligue 1 champions.

Such a situation has captured the attention of several clubs. While Real Madrid will look to secure Mbappe’s services in a Bosman move next summer, Manchester City and Liverpool are also keen on signing him. But PSG will look to tie the talismanic forward to a new long-term contract.

The report claims the French heavyweights are ready to offer him €200 million-a-year wages. The duration of the contract will be five years, meaning Mbappe can pocket €1 billion in salary if he signs the dotted line. Such a development has left Real Madrid and his other suitors in a spot of bother.

It is unclear if the 24-year-old French international is ready to commit his future to PSG. But with the two parties reconciling a contract renewal might be possible. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid can turn Mbappe’s head or set sights on alternatives.
