Conor Gallagher has been linked with a move away from Chelsea this summer, with Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham keen.

Conor Gallagher has been linked with clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion. A report from Football Transfers claims that the Seagulls are now currently in talks to sign the £50 million-rated Chelsea midfielder.

Brighton need to bring in midfield reinforcements after the departures of Alexis Mac Allister and Moises Caicedo earlier this summer. Gallagher could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for them, and it remains to be seen whether Chelsea are prepared to sell him.

The 23-year-old is reportedly keen on staying at Stamford Bridge. But he is aware of the fact that he might not be a regular starter for the Blues this season. Chelsea have already brought in a number of players since their takeover, and they have considerable depth in every position.

Mauricio Pochettino signed Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia recently. The two players are expected to start alongside Enzo Fernandez at the heart of Chelsea’s midfield. Gallagher will not want to sit on the bench at Stamford Bridge, and it remains to be seen whether he is ready to move on.

The 23-year-old has proven his quality in the Premier League with Chelsea and Crystal Palace (on loan) in the past. He is certainly good enough for Brighton and could improve them in the midfield.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur could part ways with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg before the summer transfer window closes. Hence, they are thought to be keen on the Chelsea midfielder as well.

Gallagher has the quality to develop into a reliable Premier League midfielder, and he would be an asset for clubs like Brighton and Tottenham if they manage to sign him. The Chelsea midfielder needs to play and continue his development for now. He will have plenty of opportunities to join a big club in the near future if he manages to fulfil his potential.

It will be interesting to see if the two clubs are willing to pay £50 million for the talented young midfielder this summer. Both clubs have the financial resources to pay the reported asking price to Chelsea after significant departures this summer.
