Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race for the signatures of Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher amidst interest from West Ham United.
According to a report by The Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are keen on having Conor Gallagher in their ranks ahead of next season. The 23-year-old Chelsea midfielder’s future has been uncertain for a while now and he could be on the move in the ongoing transfer window.
Gallagher has been at Chelsea since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks at the club and was a part of their first team last season. The 23-year-old had a breakthrough 2021-22 season while he was on loan at Crystal Palace.
His exceptional performances resulted in a lot of interest from clubs across Europe. But, the Blues decided to keep him at the club for the 2022-23 season where he featured in a total of 45 matches.
He racked up over 2000 minutes and even contributed towards four goals. While he has a contract until the summer of 2025, the Chelsea graduate could still part ways with the club.
There is interest in his services from West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs are looking to bolster their midfield ahead of next season and would love to have the Blues midfielder in their ranks.
With Pierre-Emile Højbjerg likely to leave the club for Atlético Madrid, Spurs are working on a deal to sign the Chelsea midfielder as a replacement. Gallagher has all the qualities needed to fill the void left by Hojbjerg. And, according to the report Spurs are leading the race for his signatures.
Meanwhile, the Hammers are also looking to bolster their midfield after the departure of Declan Rice. The departure of their skipper has left a huge void in the centre of the park. And, their manager David Moyes is keen on adding multiple midfielders to ensure they have enough strength to cope with his absence.
Rice’s transfer has given them a significant financial boost and they are looking to make full use of it to bolster their squad. Gallagher is one of their targets. The 23-year-old is a versatile midfielder who can feature as a central midfielder, an attacking midfielder as well as in a more defensive role.
The Hammers are working on a deal that could cost around £40 million as per the report. While West Ham are working on a deal to sign the 23-year-old midfielder, they are behind Tottenham Hotspur in the race.
Trouble is West Ham do this all the time.They see a player they want,find out the price and underbid it trying to save a few pennies.Admittedly clubs are inflating prices because of the Rice money but,we have 2 guys on the board that are billionaires.I can see us missing out on Gallgher and Ward-=Prowse,same as Zakaria and Alvarez due to not paying the necessary fees. Whereas I expect Levy at Tottenham to say Gallgher £50m,ok here you go.
