Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in talks with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Tottenham are in talks with La Liga club Atletico Madrid for 27-year-old Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has already secured an agreement with Atletico Madrid.

The Danish international midfielder has been a key player for Tottenham since joining the club from Southampton. And it will be interesting to see if the London club can replace him adequately. There have been rumours that he might not be a good fit for Ange Postecoglou’s style of football. So Tottenham are ready to sanction his departure.

The Australian manager prefers to play free-flowing attacking football, and it remains to be seen whether he can bring in the right reinforcements to execute his style of play. Meanwhile, Hojbjerg has proven himself in the Premier League over the years and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish giants need to add more depth and quality to their side. The Tottenham star could prove to be a quality acquisition for them. The fact that the player has already agreed personal terms with them will serve as encouragement for Atletico Madrid. And they will be hoping to finalise the transfer as soon as possible.

He certainly has the ability to do well in La Liga, and he has the technical attributes to succeed there. The Denmark international is at the peak of his powers, and he would certainly relish the chance to join a club capable of any major trophies.

He would also get to experience Champions League football with them next season. Tottenham have missed out on the top-four finish, and they will not be able to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season. In that way, a move to Atletico Madrid would be an upgrade for him.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have improved their squad by signing James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario. However, they should look to improve their central midfield and defence before the window closes. Tottenham will look to bounce back strongly next season as they need the right reinforcements to get back into the mix for Champions League qualification once again.
