Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is all set to leave the club on loan for the remainder of the season, with AS Roma his next destination.

According to Evening Standard, Chelsea have secured an agreement with AS Roma over a loan move for Romelu Lukaku. The player will now travel to Italy on Tuesday to seal his transfer. The Serie A outfit will pay him wages of around €7.5 million for 10 months, and they will also pay a loan fee in excess of €5 million to the Premier League club.

The £325,000-a-week Chelsea striker has now accepted the move, and the transfer should be formalised soon. Lukaku was on loan at Inter Milan last season, and he had an underwhelming campaign with them.

The Belgian international managed to score just 14 goals across all competitions, and he struggled with injury problems. It will be interesting to see if he can get back to his best this season and stay fit for the remainder of the campaign.

There is no doubt that he is a world-class striker and could prove to be a quality signing for Roma if he can stay fit. Someone like Jose Mourinho could get the best out of him in the coming months. Roma will be looking to win a major trophy this season, and having someone like Lukaku could help them challenge for the league title.

The Giallorossi already have a quality attacker in Paulo Dybala, and the Belgian international could form a quality partnership with the Argentine international. Dybala is more of a creative forward, and he could complement the Belgian international well.

Meanwhile, Lukaku will look to get his career back on track and regain his peak form ahead of the european championships next summer. It is evident that he is unwanted at Chelsea and staying at Stamford Bridge would have been detrimental for him.

The loan move to Roma has come at a good time for the player, and he will look to get back to his best with regular football at the capital club. Lukaku has already proven himself in Serie A with Inter Milan in the past. And it will be interesting to see if the £325,000-a-week attacker can hit the ground running with Roma and make the desired impact.
