Romelu Lukaku wants to stay at Inter Milan further beyond the season as the striker feels Chelsea is not the right place for him.

As relayed by Fichajes, Romelu Lukaku expressed his desire to spend more time in Italy with Inter Milan. The striker’s current loan spell is set to end next summer.

Lukaku failed to nail down a permanent spot in the Chelsea starting lineup following his £98 million transfer from Inter. The Italian side decided to bring the player back on a temporary basis and they also paid a loan fee of €8 million.

Former manager Thomas Tuchel didn’t seem to have a very cordial relationship with the Belgian forward and he didn’t want to block his pathway at Stamford Bridge.

But so far this campaign hasn’t panned out the way he had hoped. Severe injury problems curtailed his game time but the player is now fit and is raring to go.

Inter don’t have the option to buy the player if the 29-year-old does impress in the latter half of the season. The Blues will be trying to recoup the maximum of their invested amount but Inter’s current financial condition would mean they would be unable to afford such kind of move.

Despite these current circumstances Lukaku feels he should be having a permanent move to Inter.

“The idea is to finish my career with Anderlecht.

“I’m 30 years old, my son started school here and plays in the Inter academy. I’m fine, Inter always has ambition to continue to grow. I want to stay here and do things right. I hope to do well with Inter in the next six months, work to the max and then in the end we talk to Chelsea and hopefully find a solution.”

There have been talks to extend his loan deal for another season which could help in the smooth financial transition if the deal goes through. Lukaku didn’t perform well in the World Cup as Belgium suffered a horrific tournament as they crashed out from the group stage.
