Chelsea were handed a timely boost in the chase of Lyon’s 20-year-old trickster Bradley Barcola, who wants to leave the club.

According to Football Transfers, Bradley Barcola wants to leave Lyon before the transfer deadline, thus boosting Chelsea’s hopes about the winger. The 20-year-old has been a sensational player for the French giants, and many clubs continue to keep tabs on his situation.

Bradley Barcola has become the next big thing to come out of Lyon after Ryan Cherki. The winger scored seven goals and provided 10 assists last season, thus making him one of the most productive players in Ligue 1.

PSG have been the main contender for Barcola during this summer, as they want another attacker in addition to the ones they already signed. The Parisians are also angling a move for Randal Kolo Muani, although the Barcola move has hit a block after Lyon’s €60 million asking price.

That price point might change for an English club, and Chelsea were among those keen on Lyon’s 20-year-old trickster. The Blues have remained searching for an attacking addition and wanted a right-sided winger to bolster their options.

Chelsea had activated Michael Olise’s release clause, only for the player to sign a new contract with Crystal Palace. There have been other options, but with Barcola’s potential availability before the window shuts, the Blues might focus their efforts on bringing the 20-year-old winger.

Barcola has reportedly told Lyon his desire to move. Chelsea have re-entered the chase after the problems in the PSG deal. The Parisians were closing in on the winger, but now they have switched their attention toward PSV Eindhoven’s Johan Bakayoko, who resembles a much cheaper alternative to the Lyon star.

The decision from PSG may have opened the doors for Chelsea to make their move. The Blues could open talks with Lyon imminently if their interest holds ground. With Barcola ready to move, hardly any clubs would pay a hefty fee so late in the window.

Moreover, Chelsea have a good working relationship with Lyon after their recent deal for Malo Gusto. Hence, there’s plenty of hope for the Stamford Bridge side to seal the move for Barcola and complete their attacking setup.
