Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has reportedly contacted French defender Jean-Clair Todibo over a possible move this summer.

According to a report by French outlet Nice-Matin, as relayed by Sport Witness, Jean-Clair Todibo remains the subject of interest from Manchester United. And Erik ten Hag has already spoken to the Frenchman. Meanwhile, OGC Nice will demand around €40 million to part ways with the young centre-back.

Jean-Clair Todibo has come leaps and bounds since joining OGC Nice from Barcelona two years ago. The 23-year-old was one of the best young defensive prospects in the world when he turned professional at Toulouse FC half a decade ago. And he earned a move to Barcelona in January 2019.

But the move to Barcelona did not work out, with the Blaugrana hauling him out on loan thrice before selling him to OGC Nice in July 2021. And the Frenchman has found a stable footing while turning out over 100 times and chipping in with two goals. Meanwhile, Todibo’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with several high-profile clubs, including Manchester United, setting their sights on him.

Manchester United will part ways with Harry Maguire in the ongoing transfer window. The English international has lost prominence at Old Trafford since the arrival of Erik ten Hag last summer. And after becoming the fifth-choice centre-back in the 2022/23 season, he lost the captaincy ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
