Chelsea are still hoping to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo this summer amid his links with Liverpool.

Moises Caicedo is a target for Liverpool as well, and the Reds have already agreed on a deal with Brighton for the player. Fabrizio Romano has now claimed that the 21-year-old has a preference towards Chelsea, and he wants to move to Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool have submitted a higher offer, and Brighton & Hove Albion have already accepted it. Chelsea will now have to match it or present a better offer to Brighton in order to get the deal done. It remains to be seen how the situation evolves over the next few hours.

The 21-year-old is an enormous talent with a big future ahead of him, and he could prove to be a sensational acquisition for Chelsea or Liverpool. Both clubs need to sign a quality defensive midfielder, and it will be interesting to see where the 21-year-old ends up.

Chelsea have lost N’Golo Kante this summer, and Liverpool have lost Fabinho. Both players will need replacing, and the 21-year-old Brighton midfielder seems like the ideal fit. Caicedo will want to join a big club this summer, and he was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal during the January transfer window.

Brighton managed to hold on to him back then, but a summer departure seems inevitable. It will be interesting to see if Liverpool can convince the player to choose them over Chelsea. The Blues certainly have the financial muscle to match Liverpool’s offer or perhaps improve on it. But it remains to be seen whether they decide to do so.

It would be a near-club-record transfer for Chelsea, who recently paid a similar amount for Enzo Fernandez during the January transfer window. Caicedo has established himself as a reliable performer in the Premier League, and he will make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge. He could form the ideal long-term partnership alongside Fernandez at the heart of the midfield.

Furthermore, the 21-year-old is still quite young and is only going to get better with experience and coaching. The Argentine manager could get the best out of him and unlock his world-class potential in the coming seasons at Chelsea.

The development will come as a major blow for Liverpool, who were hoping to secure him as their club record signing after outbidding Chelsea. It will be interesting to see if Jurgen Klopp can convince the midfielder to move to Anfield instead of Stamford Bridge now.

Chelsea had the opportunity to buy at £100m but failed and made this into a circus. Would not have happened with Marina. Last season we were a joke and nothing has changed.
