Aston Villa have received a boost to their hopes of landing Tyler Adams, with the midfielder set to resume light training next week.

According to Football Insider, Tyler Adams’s injury update has boosted the likes of Aston Villa, who are keen to sign the midfielder. Unai Emery likes the USMNT captain and want to bring him to the club before the close of the window, with Villa ready to invest in the Leeds United star.

Tyler Adams was an important player for Leeds United last season. But his untimely injury made him miss the campaign’s final two months. The Whites were eventually relegated from the Premier League, and now they are keen to sell the USMNT captain before the transfer deadline.

Clubs could have accelerated a move, but having suffered a setback in his recovery from the hamstring injury has slowed things down. Chelsea are one of the clubs keen, while there is plenty of admiration from West Ham United as they desperately look for a new midfielder.

Meanwhile, there is growing interest from Aston Villa in the midfielder, with Unai Emery keen to add further players before the deadline. The Birmingham-based club have had an impressive window so far, bringing in high-profile players, thus surprising a few onlookers.

The capture of Moussa Diaby caught the attention, considering the Frenchman had links to some high-profile teams in the past. Pau Torres was also a great addition that elevated the quality of Aston Villa’s defence. While the club may not need new midfielders, Adams could become a useful addition.

Youri Tielemans also arrived on a free transfer from Leicester City, while they already have Boubacar Kamara, Douglas Luiz and John McGinn alongside youngster Jacob Ramsey. Emery will have a plan in mind while going after Adams. He could add to their depth, considering they will also play in Europe next season.

Some reports suggested Aston Villa could pay around £25 million for the 24-year-old, which may allow Leeds to profit slightly off their £20 million investment in the midfielder. The story tells the USMNT captain has made ample progress with his injury and could return next week with light training.

Initial assessments indicated he could remain sidelined until after the international break; there are suggestions he could return well before the end of August. It boosts the chances of teams like Chelsea and Aston Villa, with the Blues also chasing him.

Unlike Villa, Chelsea have a shortage of midfielders in their ranks as they have not made any senior signings in the area yet. Lesley Ugochukwu will likely leave on loan, and there’s no clear sight of whether Moises Caicedo will join.

Hence, as things stand, Chelsea could begin the season with Enzo Fernandez, Conor Gallagher and Brazilian youngster Andrey Santos as the main midfielders. Even in this chase of Adams, they will face tough competition but may have to give assurances over regular playing time, considering the Blues won’t have European football next term.
