Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly keen on 21-year-old Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga, with the Reds offering €25 million to sign him.
According to Deportes COPE Galicia, as relayed by Estadio Deportivo, Gabri Veiga remains the subject of interest from Liverpool. And the Reds have offered €25 million to sign the 21-year-old prospect. Meanwhile, the Celta Vigo midfielder is also a target for Arsenal this summer.
Gabri Veiga has become one of the most coveted midfielders in Europe after his breakthrough campaign at Celta Vigo. The Spaniard is a graduate of the Galician club’s academy and made his first-team debut in September 2020. But he had to wait until the 2022/23 season to become a regular for the Sky Blues.
The 21-year-old was excellent last season, amassing 11 goals and four assists in 36 La Liga outings. And Veiga’s contribution eventually helped Celta Vigo evade relegation from the top flight. The youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with several high-profile clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool, keen on signing him.
Arsenal recently joined the race to sign Veiga from Celta Vigo. And the Gunners’ interest in the Spanish prospect is interesting, considering Mikel Arteta has Martin Odegaard, Fabio Vieira, and Kai Havertz at his disposal. So it is unclear how the Celta Vigo midfielder will fit into the scheme of things at the Emirates.
Nonetheless, the Spaniard remains a target for Arsenal heading into the final weeks of the summer transfer window. But the Gunners might be behind Liverpool in the race to sign the 21-year-old from Celta Vigo.
Veiga has been on Liverpool’s radar for a long time. And reports in June even suggested that the Reds had made a contract offer to the 21-year-old. It has now emerged that Liverpool recently approached Celta Vigo with a bid worth €25 million. But the Spaniard has a release clause worth €40 million in his contract.
