Arsenal and Tottenham are ready to rival Chelsea and others in pursuing highly-rated Spanish star Gabri Veiga, with the race set to heat up.

According to Le 10 Sport, Arsenal and Tottenham have entered the race for Gabri Veiga, who also interests Chelsea. The 11-goal Celta Vigo star can join one of the London trio as the chase picks up heat.

Gabri Veiga’s brace on the final day of the La Liga season ensured Celta Vigo survived the relegation order. The Spanish side and their supporters had already accepted his departure in the summer, but the attacking midfielder’s destination remains unknown.

For a few months now, many top clubs, including Real Madrid and Barcelona, have shown an interest in signing the 11-goal Celta Vigo star. Yet, his €40 million asking price remains a stumbling block, even for Premier League sides like Liverpool, who had reportedly made a lucrative contract offer to the player.

Manchester City were also thought to hold an interest as they sought a replacement for Ilkay Gundogan. However, it’s been a while since those links emerged, as the trail for Veiga has gone cold in the last few weeks.

Chelsea also sounded out to show an interest in the attacking midfielder. Mauricio Pochettino may view many characteristics in the player and could have even considered him as a priority signing to replace Mason Mount and Kai Havertz in their attacking setup.

With Chelsea likely to enter the race once they can sort out the pursuit of Moises Caicedo, there’s the imminent danger of London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham stealing the march. The Gunners, over the past few windows, have been open to singing talented attacking players and may hold an interest in Veiga.

Mikel Arteta does not prioritise an attacking midfielder, but he may look at Viega’s qualities as a central midfielder and think about a move. The €40 million asking price may not bother Arsenal too much, but the player has to fit their current system.

Meanwhile, Tottenham are also in the race, as per the report. Spurs recently signed James Maddison from Leicester City, but there have been links to more creative players. A move for Veiga would make sense for them, but would the player consider joining them over Europe playing sides remains the question.

For now, the race for Veiga could pick momentum in the coming days as clubs steadily refocus their efforts on the Celta Vigo midfielder. There’s an indication in the report that the Premier League remains the likeliest destination after Paris Saint-Germain pulled out of the race altogether.
