Barcelona will soon begin negotiations with Real Valladolid over a deal for 18-year-old Spanish wonderkid Ivan Fresneda.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Ivan Fresneda remains the subject of interest from Barcelona. And the Blaugrana will soon open talks with Real Valladolid for the 18-year-old prodigy. But they are not ready to shell out €20 million, the value of his release clause, to land the young full-back.

Ivan Fresneda is one of the best young prospects in his homeland. A graduate of the Real Valladolid youth division, the Spanish wonderkid also represented Real Madrid in his youth career. And after graduating from the Valladolid Academy, he made his mark at the first-team level last season.

While Real Valladolid went down to the Segunda Division, the 18-year-old was impressive with his performances. Fresneda has turned out 26 times thus far for Real Valladolid, but he might have played his final game for the club. And the youngster’s progress has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Barcelona.

Fresneda’s release clause is now worth only €20 million. And the valuation should ideally make him an attractive target for Barcelona. Meanwhile, the Catalan giants need to invest in a long-term right-back solution, one of their long-standing problem areas. And the Real Valladolid defender is a viable target for Barcelona.

Competition from Premier League clubs has emerged in the last few weeks. But reports have pointed to Barcelona being in the pole position to sign the 18-year-old Spanish wonderkid. That is because the teenage sensation has his heart set on moving to the Catalan club. But they will not shell out €20 million to secure Fresneda’s services.

Instead, Barcelona will propose a base fee of €10 million while adding add-ons that will take the value of the package to the €20 million that Real Valladolid will expect from Fresneda’s sale. And the reigning La Liga champions are ready to begin negotiations over a deal for the teenager.

It will be interesting to see if Barcelona’s ploy to offer €10 million plus bonuses convinces Real Valladolid. For now, the Catalan giants are the front-runners to secure Fresneda’s services in the ongoing transfer window.
