Arsenal have been linked with a move for Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda, who will cost €20 million this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Ivan Fresneda could be available for a cut-price deal in the coming weeks. The 18-year-old, a target for Arsenal, has a release clause in his contract, which has dropped following their relegation to the second division. The youngster is now available for a fee of around €20 million.

Fresneda has established himself as a key player for Real Valladolid, and he could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition for Arsenal. The Gunners need to bring in a specialist right-back this summer and the 18-year-old would be a solid long-term investment. The interest in him thus makes sense.

The reported asking €20 million price seems like a bargain in today’s market, and the Spanish wonderkid has the potential to justify the outlet next season. The 18-year-old is enormously talented with a bright future ahead of him. And working with a top-class coach like Mikel Arteta could help him improve further.

The Arsenal manager has done well to nurture talented young players at the north London club. And he has helped players like Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard develop into key players in the Premier League. Despite being 18, Fresneda has shown great maturity defensively and could be a starter for Arsenal next season.

The Gunners used Ben White as their right-back this season. But they need to bring in a more specialist option. The former Brighton & Hove Albion defender is more suited to a central role. The reported €20 million fee is certainly affordable for a club with Arsenal’s resources. But it remains to be seen whether the Gunners can get the deal done in the coming weeks.

The player has previously been linked with clubs like Newcastle United as well. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal can fend off the competition from their Premier League rivals and sign the defender in the coming weeks. In addition, Borussia Dortmund are also keen.
