Liverpool are reportedly interested in Fluminense midfielder Andre, but the Brazilian side will not allow a transfer until December.
According to Football Transfers, Fluminense are open to selling a major chunk of Andre’s rights but will not allow a transfer until December. Liverpool are among the teams keen on the €25 million South American ace as Jurgen Klopp eyes midfield changes.
Liverpool are about to enter a pivotal stage of their transfer window, as Jurgen Klopp has some big decisions to make. After deciding to let Fabinho and Jordan Henderson leave, the Reds might also lose Thiago Alcantara before the deadline.
Losing three of the most influential and experienced stars in the same period would bring about problems for Klopp in his re-shaping. He would have ideally wanted to keep one of Henderson or Fabinho, but that’s no longer the case.
There’s a feeling Liverpool will move aggressively in the window to bring reinforcements. Having signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai in this window, Klopp will worry about filling Fabinho’s position as he inches closer to joining Al Ittihad.
The defensive midfield role seems imperative for Klopp, and Romeo Lavia remains their primary target. Having made inroads with the player and almost agreeing to personal terms, Liverpool were set to make their first bid. Southampton have since rejected their initial offer, with the Reds likely to return with another.
Klopp is also looking at alternatives, with Fluminense’s Brazilian midfielder Andre as one of his targets. The 22-year-old is among the rising stars on the Brazilian side. Many English clubs are being offered the chance to sign him, possibly by his representatives.
Liverpool remains interested in signing him. Andre could become available for far less than Lavia’s going rate. Fluminense are open to a sale but does not want to let the midfielder leave before December, when their season ends.
They want €25 million for 80% of Andre’s rights and add-ons. Liverpool are not about to pay up that and will thoroughly negotiate with Fluminense for the South American ace. Fulham are also keen on the midfielder, but if the Reds are serious about him, the race could finish then and there.
Andre may not come to Liverpool as a readymade replacement for Fabinho. Before becoming a regular under Klopp, he may have to bide his time here. Hence, he’s not the right replacement for the Al Ittihad-bound midfielder. Klopp must look for a more Premier League-ready option in the coming days.
