Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing 19-year-old Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia this summer in a £35 million deal.

A report from Sacha Tavolieri claims that Liverpool have opened talks with Southampton for Romeo Lavia. And the 19-year-old midfielder’s camp have already agreed on personal terms with the Merseyside club.

Apparently, the Belgian midfielder was waiting for a green light from Liverpool to initiate transfer discussions, and the Reds are now set to make their move. The first official bid from the Premier League club is set to arrive soon and Liverpool could offer around £35 million.

The Belgian midfielder impressed with his performances last season, and he is regarded as a prodigious young talent with a big future. He could prove to be the ideal replacement for Brazilian international Fabinho, who has been linked with a move away from Liverpool in recent weeks.

The midfielder is expected to head to Saudi Arabia this summer, and Liverpool will have to replace him adequately. They have done well to replace players like Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer and will have to find a quality defensive midfielder as well.

The 19-year-old Southampton midfielder is too good for the Championship and will be hoping to make a move to Liverpool this summer. Despite missing out on Champions League football, Liverpool have an exceptional squad, and they have a world-class manager in charge.

The Reds certainly have the quality to compete for major trophies next season, and Lavia will fancy his chances of winning silverware with a move to Anfield. In addition to that, working under a world-class coach like Jurgen Klopp will help him improve further and fulfil his tremendous potential.

The reported £35 million offer for the player might not be enough for Southampton, who will be able to pocket £40 million for Lavia next season. The player has a close in his contract which will allow him to return to Manchester City for £40 million next summer.

It is fair to assume that Liverpool will have to pay more than that amount if they want to sign the Belgian midfielder this summer. But agreeing personal terms with the 19-year-old should push them close to a summer deal with Southampton.
