Tottenham have been mentioned as potential suitors for Kylian Mbappe alongside Chelsea, Manchester United and overwhelming favourites, Real Madrid.

MARCA has linked Kylian Mbappe to every club under the sun and with financial resources as Paris Saint-Germain put their prized asset up for sale. As the report mentions, Tottenham are also part of the list of some of the high-profile suitors from England and Spain, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid.

Some teams were previously linked with Kylian Mbappe that are not part of the report. Arsenal and Liverpool have seen their names mentioned since it became clear the French striker could leave Paris Saint-Germain.

In what has been a difficult few days to digest, Paris Saint-Germain put Mbappe up for sale. They have given the clearest indication yet about their intentions by omitting the star striker from their pre-season tour. It is a surprise, given the France captain, who scored 41 goals last season, should remain a part of the side irrespective of his transfer status.

Once PSG’s decision got confirmed, the media had a field time, linking the striker to every club under the sun. The Parisians have always believed Mbappe has an agreement with Real Madrid. Florentino Perez will sense a fantastic opportunity to bring the coveted star over but may wait another year.

That idea resonates with Mbappe, who scored 41 times in all competitions for a phenomenal season. PSG have no interest in watching him leave on a free transfer next summer and, hence, are keen to offload him immediately.

There have been reports of an imminent bid from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, which PSG would readily approve. Any move for Mbappe will need his approval, as the player has come into power about his transfer.

Unsurprisingly, many Premier League clubs remain linked, with some of the usual suspects in Manchester United and Chelsea But the surprising name on the list of that of Tottenham, with suggestions that they might look at Mbappe as a replacement for Kane.

They claim that both club chiefs maintain a good relationship, as they are in a similar position. There is no mention of Tottenham’s financial capabilities to even consider making such an audacious move. Then there is the small factor of convincing the striker to reject the overtures from elsewhere and come to north London.

They could yet pull a surprise in this scenario, but it seems unlikely. Similarly, Chelsea, who had maintained an interest, have seen their chances questioned by the report. The primary concern for the Blues would ring around breaking FFP rules, which effectively rules them out of the chase.

Manchester United, too, with the chatter around their takeover and possibly from another Qatari, may fuel speculation about a move for Mbappe. The striker may wait another season and make sacrifices in the upcoming campaign. His sole priority may have to potentially get a favoured move to Real Madrid for free in 2024.
