Chelsea made the first move to sign Kylian Mbappe, a long-term target for Real Madrid, after Paris Saint-Germain put him up for sale.
According to Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport, Kylian Mbappe is the subject of interest from Chelsea. And the Blues have already submitted an initial enquiry for the Frenchman, a target for Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain will look to cash in on him in the ongoing transfer window.
Kylian Mbappe has become a household name since enjoying his breakthrough in club football in the 2016/17 season. The 24-year-old was a prodigious prospect back then as AS Monaco shocked Paris Saint-Germain by winning the Ligue 1 title. And PSG wasted no time to secure his services in August 2017.
Arguably the best player in the world, the French international often scores goals for fun and nearly helped Les Bleus make it back-to-back World Cup triumphs in Qatar last year. Meanwhile, he was excellent in the 2022/23 season, amassing 41 goals and ten assists in 43 appearances. But Mbappe’s future at the club level is uncertain.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has revealed that he will not sign a new contract with PSG. In addition, he has quashed suggestions that he wants to seal a move away from Parc des Princes this summer. But that does not hold a candle for PSG, who will look to offload the player in the coming weeks to avoid losing him for free next year. Such a situation has alerted Real Madrid and Chelsea.
The 24-year-old has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. And Los Blancos hoped to secure Mbappe’s services for free last summer before he signed a new contract with PSG. But despite betraying them, Real Madrid’s interest has not waned. And widespread reports have claimed they will look to rub salt into PSG’s wounds by signing him for free next year.
But PSG’s insistence to cash in on Mbappe this summer might work against Real Madrid. And the situation has kicked Chelsea into action. And the Blues have probed into the matter by asking for information about a possible deal. Meanwhile, despite preferring to play on the left flank, Mbappe can be a long-term striker solution for Chelsea.

In addition, Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal will offer a whopping €400 million to secure Mbappe’s signature. But the French international is reportedly only keen on joining Real Madrid. And with the two parties wanting a Bosman move in 2024, PSG will have little bargaining power despite leaving him out of the pre-season tour to Asia.
