Manchester United are keen to wrap up a deal for Rasmus Hojlund and could offer players in part exchange for the Atalanta striker.
According to Football Insider, Manchester United are willing to offer at least three players in part-exchange to sign Rasmus Hojlund. The Red Devils are keen to wrap up a deal for the 16-goal target but face difficulties coughing up the £60 million demanded for the Danish frontman.
Manchester United are finally stepping up their game in the transfer market, as a few deals appear in the pipeline. After signing Mason Mount as the summer headline signing from Chelsea, the Red Devils are keen to wrap up more essential names to strengthen the squad.
A need for a new striker seemed evident in January, but Erik ten Hag could only convince the club of a loan deal for Wout Weghorst. The Dutchman ended his six-month stint without a Premier League goal to his name, thus making the club look away from a permanent move.
There’s a clear need to find a good No.9 who could lead the line for Manchester United next season. Ten Hag had originally wanted a fairly experienced striker in the role, but Manchester United were priced out of deals for Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.
They have since turned their attention towards Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta and remain keen to sign him. Despite reports from Italy claiming the Serie A club wanted around £86 million for the striker, the current price seems more like £60 million.
It’s still high for a player with only one full season in one of the top five leagues. However, the Danish international managed 16 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions, but only 10 came for Atalanta. Hence, Ten Hag was initially concerned about the experience the 20-year-old holds to lead the line, but now he may look to sign it.
Manchester United cannot pay the £60 million asking price, especially as they are close to signing Andre Onana from Inter Milan paying huge fees. UEFA also cited them and paid a minor fine for FFP breaches, which will be a warning for further spending.
Hence, Manchester United are keen on offering at least three players in part-exchange to tempt Atalanta. Any potential deal will involve cash, but not to £60 million. There were reports that the Red Devils were planning to include Mason Greenwood in such a move, but whether the striker wants to go there remains the question.
There are other candidates to ponder, and Hojlund is also keen to sign for his ‘dream club’ Manchester United. However, the Red Devils will have to dig deep to find an agreement without paying over the odds or even close to £60 million for the 16-goal target.
