Manchester United might offer Mason Greenwood as a makeweight in the deal to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta this summer.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Manchester United might have a new ploy to sign Rasmus Hojlund. Atalanta will demand £86 million to part ways with the Danish international. But the Red Devils are willing to send Mason Greenwood on loan to the Serie A club to bring the price down.

Rasmus Hojlund has garnered a lot of praise and reputation, even though he is yet to prove his credentials as a prolific goalscorer. The 20-year-old has managed only ten goals and four assists in 34 appearances thus far for Atalanta. But he has made his mark on the international stage with his national team.

The Danish international has found the back of the net six times in as many games thus far for his nation. And Hojlund’s progress has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. But the youngster’s next destination should be Manchester United, with the Red Devils confident of signing him.

The Dane is the priority target for Manchester United this summer. While they initially wanted to sign Harry Kane, Tottenham Hotspur will not sell the Englishman to a direct rival. Other options have also emerged on Manchester United’s radar, but they have zeroed in on the Atalanta striker.

However, Hojlund’s price tag has been posing a problem for Manchester United. La Dea will demand £86 million to part ways with the highly-rated striker this summer. But Manchester United will unlikely meet Atalanta’s valuation of the 20-year-old centre-forward. And they might have a trick up their sleeves to secure his services.

Manchester United might use Mason Greenwood as a makeweight in the deal to secure Hojlund’s services. Interestingly, the 21-year-old is a target for Atalanta. And the Red Devils are ready to offer the beleaguered attacker on loan to La Dea to reduce Hojlund’s price tag.

It will be interesting to see if Atalanta will agree to ask for less than £86 million to part ways with Hojlund this summer. The highly-rated young striker is a top target for Manchester United. And with Greenwood unlikely to feature again at Old Trafford, using him as a makeweight might be a masterstroke.
