Manchester United confident of signing Rasmus Hojlund for £50 million

Manchester United are interested in signing the Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund in a deal worth £50 million.

A report from the Telegraph claims that Manchester United are optimistic about signing the talented youngster this summer and it remains to be seen whether they can agree on a fee with the Italian club.

Hojlund joined Atalanta last summer and he has been an instant hit for them. The 20-year-old Denmark striker scored 16 goals across all competitions and picked up seven assists along the way.

He is widely regarded as a world-class talent with a massive future ahead of him and Manchester United will do well to secure his services.

It is fair to assume that Atalanta will demand a premium for their prized prospect and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United are ready to pay up.

A £50 million deal for the 20-year-old striker might seem steep right now, but the youngster has the potential to justify the outlay in the long run.

A move to Manchester United would be an exciting opportunity in the young striker’s career and he is likely to be tempted if the Red Devils come calling. Playing regular football in the Premier League could accelerate his development and help him fulfil his world-class potential.

Manchester United were overly dependent on Marcus Rashford for goals last season and the England international was an outstanding form.

However, the Red Devils will be hoping to compete for the Champions League and Premier League this season and they need a better squad in order to compete against the european elite.

Signing another reliable striker should be a top priority for them.

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the Tottenham striker Harry Kane as well. Hojlund is likely to be a cheaper alternative. Although, the England international is a much more proven option.

That said, the 20-year-old Atalanta striker has the potential to develop into a world-class striker and working under a coach like Erik ten Hag could help him improve further.

The Dutch manager has a proven track record of nurturing talented young players during his time at Ajax and he could help the 20-year-old live up to his potential as well.
