Arsenal and Gremio are reportedly discussing a summer move for 23-year-old Brazilian midfielder Bitello, with an agreement expected this week.

According to a report by 90min, Bitello is the subject of interest from Arsenal. And the Gunners have opened talks with Gremio over a possible move in the ongoing transfer window. Meanwhile, the Brazilian club will demand around £8.5 million to part ways with the 23-year-old midfielder.

Joao Paulo de Souza Mares, better known as Bitello, spent his formative years in his homeland before graduating from the Gremio academy a few years ago. And the Brazilian midfielder has come leaps and bounds in the last few seasons at the Porto Alegre-based club.

The 23-year-old has been a mainstay in the middle of the park, with his stock rising constantly. And he has turned out 34 times across all competitions this season, chipping in with seven goals and four assists. Bitello’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with Arsenal among the clubs keen on signing him.

The Gunners have been proactive in the market in the ongoing transfer window. With Mikel Arteta looking to topple Manchester City from the Premier League summit in the upcoming season, Arsenal needed a strong summer. And they have already confirmed one signing, with Kai Havertz arriving from Chelsea.

In addition, deals for Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber are in the pipeline. And Arsenal should confirm the arrivals of the two players in the coming days. With the core looking strong, Arsenal will now look to beef up Arteta’s options by reinforcing the depth. And Bitello has thus emerged as a candidate to bolster the midfield unit.

Arsenal recently sent scouts to watch the 23-year-old Brazilian midfielder in action. And they have now opened talks with Gremio to discuss a deal for the player. The report claims the Immortal Tricolor will demand £8.5 million to part ways with Bitello.

Meanwhile, 90min has added that Arsenal will likely secure Bitello’s services this week. So the Gunners might not have any qualms about shelling out £8.5 million to sign the 23-year-old midfielder. And it will be interesting to see if the Brazilian arrives at the Emirates in the coming days.
