Manchester City will thus look to sign a top-class midfielder in the ongoing transfer window. And they were keen on signing Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice ahead of the 2023/24 season. But while Bellingham has joined Real Madrid, Rice is on the verge of moving to Arsenal.

Frenkie de Jong has thus emerged as a viable alternative to both Rice and Bellingham. And the Premier League champions are willing to offer €110 million to secure the Dutchman’s services. Such a bid will make it very hard for Barcelona to turn down, considering the financial turmoil at the club.

But it is unclear if de Jong will be ready to leave Barcelona anytime soon. The 26-year-old has repeatedly said he is happy and content at Camp Nou. So Manchester City might have an uphill task convincing the Dutch international to seal a summer move.
