Chelsea have been offered the chance to sign 28-year-old Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic for €40 million.

According to a report by Caught Offside, Chelsea could acquire the services of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic ahead of next season. The 28-year-old midfielder’s future has been uncertain of late and he is expected to be on the move in the ongoing transfer window.

Milinkovic-Savic joined Lazio back in the summer of 2015 from KRC Genk. He has gone from strength to strength since joining the Serie A club and has featured in a total of 341 matches for the Italian club. The 28-year-old has found the back of the net on 69 occasions and also has 59 assists.

The Serbian international has been a great servant of the club. While he has been linked with numerous clubs over the past few seasons, the 28-year-old still remains an integral part of the Italian outfit. However, this could change in the ongoing summer.

Milinkovic-Savic’s contract runs out in the summer of 2024. While the Serie A club are keen on extending his stay, the player is unlikely to pen down a new deal. As a result, Lazio don’t want to risk losing out on him for free and are ready to offload him for €40 million.

Even the player is looking for a new challenge. He is keen on joining a Premier League club. Meanwhile, his agent and former Chelsea player Mateja Kezman has offered him to the Blues.

Kezman believes Milinkovic-Savic could be a great addition to the Chelsea ranks and wants his former club to make moves. The Blues have parted ways with Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic of late. And, there is surely room for a new midfielder in Mauricio Pochettino.

But, they have targeted young players over the past few windows. And, at this point in time, their priority is to push for the services of Moises Caicedo or Romeo Lavia. However, given the quality and versatility of Milinkovic-Savic, they might be tempted to make a move for the 28-year-old.

Meanwhile, the player has been offered to other Premier League clubs as well. Italian giants Juventus are also interested in the Serbian international. However, they want Lazio to lower their €40 million asking price. With Lazio unlikely to lower their asking price, a Premier League club seems to be the only option for Milinkovic-Savic.
