Lazio will soon offer €8 million to sign long-serving Real Madrid wide man Lucas Vazquez, but his wages might be an obstacle.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Lucas Vazquez is the subject of interest from Lazio. The Serie A giants are preparing a bid worth €8 million to sign the long-serving Real Madrid wide man. But his wages, worth €5 million per year, might be a stumbling block for the Italian club.

Lucas Vazquez has never been the undisputed first-choice player for Real Madrid. The 32-year-old passed through the academies at Curtis and Ural before graduating from La Fabrica. And apart from a loan stint with Espanyol in the 2014/15 season, he has spent his entire professional career with a Real Madrid team.

The Spaniard made his first-team debut for Real Madrid in September 2015. And he has not looked back since then, establishing himself as a dependable utility man. Vazquez’s versatility has enabled him to remodel himself from a rampaging winger to a marauding right-back in the last few years. And he has featured regularly due to Dani Carvajal’s fitness issues.

A veteran of the Real Madrid setup, the Spaniard has turned out over 300 times while chipping in with 33 goals and 57 assists. But the long-serving wide man faces an uncertain future at Real Madrid after entering the final year of his contract. And such a situation has captured the attention of Lazio.

Maurizio Sarri already has multiple right-backs at his disposal. But the Lazio manager can still find a use for Vazquez if he arrives at Stadio Olimpico. The Spanish international’s versatility means he can operate anywhere on the right flank for Lazio. And the Serie A giants are preparing a bid to sign the Real Madrid veteran.

Lazio will soon offer €8 million to secure Lucas Vazquez’s services in the summer transfer window. But the player’s wages, worth €5 million per year, pose a stumbling block for the Biancocelesti. And it is unclear if the Spaniard will be open to taking a pay cut to move to Lazio.

Meanwhile, recent reports have also linked Vazquez with another Serie A bigwig, Juventus. And it will be interesting to see if the 32-year-old’s stint with Real Madrid ends in the summer transfer window. But with Alvaro Odriozola closing in on leaving Los Blancos, Vazquez might stick around for another season.
