Federico Valverde has been linked with a summer move away from Real Madrid, with Chelsea and Liverpool keen on signing him.

A report from Defensa Central claims that Chelsea and Liverpool are keen on signing Federico Valverde. But the Real Madrid midfielder is not interested in leaving this summer.

The 24-year-old has established himself as a key player for Real Madrid, and his departure would have certainly weakened the squad. It is no secret that the Spanish giants will want to hold on to him for as long as possible, and the player’s desire to stay at the club will come as a major boost for them. Recent reports have also suggested that Real Madrid are not ready to sell him.

Both Chelsea and Liverpool were hoping to sign the player this summer. The Blues need to bring in midfield reinforcements after losing players like Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante. Meanwhile, Mason Mount is closing in on a move to Manchester United.

On the other hand, Liverpool have lost James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as free agents. Both clubs need to bring in multiple midfield signings this summer, and Valverde would have improved them immensely.

The 24-year-old midfielder is a key player for Real Madrid, and he has proven his quality in La Liga as well as the Champions League. Apart from his qualities as a midfielder, his versatility makes him an invaluable asset for any club. He can operate as a midfielder, a winger as well as a full-back.

The Uruguayan international is one of the first names on the team sheet under Carlo Ancelotti and the Italian manager will not want to part ways with him anytime soon. The midfielder chipped in with 12 goals last season, and his defensive contribution has proven to be priceless for the Spanish outfit as well.

Liverpool and Chelsea could certainly do with a utility man like him, and it remains to be seen whether they can strengthen their squad before the transfer window closes. Liverpool have already signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have been linked with players like Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo in recent weeks. Both teams have missed out on Champions League qualification, and they will have to improve their squad if they want to finish in the top four next year.
