Mateu Alemany, Barcelona’s director of football, recently met the agents of Ivan Fresneda, who offered the Spaniard to the Blaugrana.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Mateu Alemany and Lian Sports Group have recently held a meeting. The agency represents Ivan Fresneda and offered the young Spaniard to Barcelona. And the Blaugrana can secure his services for just €20 million. But Xavi Hernandez wants the Catalan club to sign a more experienced right-back.
Ivan Fresneda has risen to prominence following his breakthrough season at senior-level club football. The Spaniard, a former trainee at Real Madrid, has graduated from the Real Valladolid youth division. And he featured regularly for the Pucelanos, making a mark despite the club’s relegation from La Liga.
The 18-year-old turned out 24 times across all competitions, racking up nearly 2,000 minutes of game time. But Fresneda’s stint with Valladolid will likely end in the summer transfer window amid interest from several high-profile clubs. And his representatives have offered his services to Barcelona.
Lian Sports Group, the agency that represents the Spanish full-back, recently met Mateu Alemany. And Fresneda’s agents offered the Barcelona director of football the opportunity to sign the youngster this summer. Meanwhile, the player already features on Barcelona’s radar as they scour the market for a right-back.
The Blaugrana will enter the market for a long-term right-back solution this summer. And with Jules Kounde keen on playing as a centre-back next season, Xavi Hernandez needs a top-class option for the position. Fresneda has thus emerged as a viable target, with Barcelona holding talks with his entourage.
Meanwhile, the 18-year-old will cost only €20 million due to a clause in his Real Valladolid contract. But while Barcelona will have the opportunity to sign the Spaniard, Xavi Hernandez wants a more experienced option. So the Blaugrana might turn to other candidates, with Joao Cancelo among the top targets.
As for Fresneda, a move worth €20 million to Borussia Dortmund is the likeliest option for the teenage sensation. And it will be interesting to see who Barcelona will sign to solve the right-back woes for good this summer.
