But they feat the West London club will beat them to the signature of the 21-year-old, whose price tag is £70 million.

Moises Caicedo has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in the last 12 months. But he took some time to become a regular for the Seagulls, who signed him nearly 30 months ago. And after a short stint with Beerschot in Belgium, he finally got going at the Amex Stadium.

The 21-year-old has turned out over 50 times thus far for Brighton, chipping in with two goals and three assists. Caicedo’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with several high-profile clubs keen on signing him. And Arsenal and Chelsea are vying for his signature, with Brighton demanding around £70 million.

Arsenal attempted to sign Caicedo in the January transfer window, with the youngster pushing for the move. But a deal did not materialise, with Brighton & Hove Albion keeping hold of their prized possession. However, Arsenal’s interest in the youngster has not waned, with the Gunners ready to table a bid to secure his services.

Considering Arsenal had been willing to offer around £70 million to land Caicedo in January, they should have no qualms about shelling out a similar sum this summer. But Arsenal will face stiff competition from Chelsea in the race to sign the 21-year-old. And the Gunners are harbouring fears about the viability of signing their top midfield target.

At Chelsea, Mauricio Pochettino is pushing the club to secure Caicedo’s services. And amid uncertainties surrounding the future of N’Golo Kante, the Ecuadorian international is a viable target. Meanwhile, Chelsea should have no qualms about paying £70 million to land the youngster.
