Alexis Mac Allister has officially completed his move to Liverpool, who paid £35 million to sign the 24-year-old from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Liverpool have made an official statement to confirm that they have secured the services of Alexis Mac Allister. The 24-year-old versatile midfielder has signed a long-term contract with the Reds. And Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly recouped £35 million from the player’s sale.

Alexis Mac Allister took some time to rise to prominence. But like countless Brighton success stories, the Argentine international made his mark at the Amex Stadium. In addition, he won the 2022 FIFA World Cup with his national side. And he enjoyed an excellent 2022/23 season, raking in 12 goals and three assists in 40 appearances.

Mac Allister’s progress captured the attention of several high-profile clubs. But Liverpool emerged in the pole position to sign the 24-year-old versatile midfielder in the summer transfer window. And the Reds have now sealed the deal for the Brighton midfielder. According to Fabrizio Romano, they have paid £35 million, his release clause, to land him.

The official statement does not mention the duration of Mac Allister’s contract. But widespread reports are claiming that he has signed a five-year deal with the Merseyside club. And the Argentine midfielder has expressed his delight to join Liverpool upon completing the move.

Mac Allister said, “It feels amazing. It’s a dream come true, it’s amazing to be here and I can’t wait to get started. I wanted to be in [from] the first day of pre-season, so it’s good that everything is done. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates.”

The 24-year-old versatile midfielder added, “It was a fantastic year for me – World Cup, what we achieved with Brighton – but now it’s time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player and a better human being every day.”

With Liverpool sealing the deal to sign the 24-year-old versatile midfielder, they can now focus on pursuing other midfield targets. James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are leaving the Merseyside club as free agents. So the Reds have multiple positions to fill in the midfield department heading into the 2023/24 season.
