Chelsea have tabled a €60 million bid for 27-year-old AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan ahead of the summer window.

According to Milan News, Chelsea have reportedly submitted a €60 million bid for Mike Maignan. The AC Milan stopper has been in stellar form since joining the Rosonerri two seasons ago. The Blues are keen on a new goalkeeper ahead of next season as there’s no confidence in their existing options.

Chelsea fans will hope Mauricio Pochettino’s arrival will give the club direction in building a competing squad. The West London club spent north of €600 million in the last two windows but could only manage a dismal 12th placed finish.

As a result, they will not play European football next season, which may allow Pochettino to balance their squad. The Argentine is already planning a major clearout from his squad and bringing in players essential to his plans.

Of the many requirements Chelsea have, they need a new goalkeeper to strengthen their backline. Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy could depart in the close season as the Blues target a new No.1 to take them forward.

Andre Onana remains a firm target for Chelsea, with talks ongoing for quite some time between all parties. Many reports suggest that they may not pay up to what Inter Milan demands for the goalkeeper, but the Blues have not pulled out of the race yet.

They are now targetting AC Milan’s 27-year-old French international Mike Maignan to become their new No.1. The stopper has had tremendous two years at the San Siro and has put in some stellar performances. While he helped the Rosoneri win the Serie A title in his first season, he pushed them into the Champions League semifinal this time.

His performances have gathered the attention of top clubs, including Manchester United. However, reports from Italy suggest Chelsea have already made a €60 million offer for the 27-year-old French international.

Maignan may not feature on top of their list, but if they have submitted the bid, then their interest is serious. The 27-year-old French international will bring tremendous experience and steady the ship at the back for the Blues, but will he want to play no part in European football next season?

The lure of London and the Premier League may prove attractive for Maignan if the offer is genuine. However, speculation suggests the Blues might continue to push for Onana, who Pochettino views as their primary target ahead of the window.
