Jorge Mendes is reportedly pushing his client Ansu Fati to leave Barcelona and join Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.

According to a report by SPORT, as relayed by Sport Witness, Jorge Mendes wants to convince Ansu Fati to join Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer transfer window. Barcelona will not block a move for the 20-year-old attacker as they look to balance the books in the coming weeks.

Ansu Fati has suffered a disastrous fall from grace after initially emerging as the heir apparent to Lionel Messi. The Spanish international made waves in his debut season, becoming Barcelona’s second-youngest debutant. But a spate of injuries has curtailed his progress considerably in the last few years.

The 20-year-old is at a tier below the performance levels he showed in 2019/20. And while Fati has turned out 50 times for Barcelona this season, he has struggled for regular starts. So the youngster faces an uncertain future at Spotify Camp Nou, with Barcelona open to cashing in on him. And Wolverhampton Wanderers are one of his prospective suitors.

Reports last month also suggested that Barcelona might use Fati in the deal to sign Ruben Neves. But with Xavi Hernandez not keen on having Neves in his squad, such an arrangement is now on the back burner. However, Fati remains on the Black Country outfit’s wishlist for the summer transfer window.

The Midlands club will likely lose Adama Traore in the summer transfer window. Widespread reports have claimed that the former Barcelona winger will move to either Turkey or Saudi Arabia. In addition, several other attackers face an uncertain future at the Molineux heading into the summer transfer window.

Fati is thus a viable target for Wolverhampton Wanderers. But the 20-year-old Barcelona attacker is not keen on joining the Black Country outfit. However, Jorge Mendes is now pushing the young forward to end his Barcelona misery by moving to the Premier League club. Meanwhile, the Catalan giants have left the exit door open for the Spanish international.

It will be interesting to see if Mendes can convince Fati to move to the Premier League. But after showing immense promise and potential in his debut season, joining Wolverhampton Wanderers will be an underwhelming move for the 20-year-old Barcelona star.
