Ansu Fati has reportedly been linked with a move away from Barcelona at the end of the season, with Manchester United interested.

A report from Fichajes claims that Barcelona are prepared to sell Ansu Fati for a fee of around €100 million at the end of the season. The young attacking prospect is a target for Manchester United.

Fati has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth at the Spanish club this season. And he has been linked with a move away from Camp Nou so that he can get regular game time. Apparently, clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal are keen on securing the 20-year-old’s services. And it remains to be seen where he ends up.

The Spaniard is regarded as one of the most talented young players to have come through La MasiaI and he was expected to develop into a world-class player. However, his progress has stalled because of persistent injury problems, and he is no longer a key player for Xavi Hernandez.

The Jorge Mendes client needs to play regularly to fulfill his potential. And a move away from Barcelona could be ideal for him at the end of the season. It remains to be seen whether his suitors are prepared to pay €100 million for a player who has barely contributed in recent months.

There is no doubt that the Spaniard is a world-class talent. But paying that kind of money for him would be a major gamble. While Manchester United and Arsenal could use a player of his quality and versatility in their attack, the asking price will have to be reduced for any move to go through.

Manchester United will have to add more quality to their front three if they want to compete on all fronts next season. Marcus Rashford is currently the only reliable attacker at the club. Fati is capable of playing anywhere across the front three and he will add pace, flair and goals to the side.

The 20-year-old needs to join a club where the manager will have faith in his ability and allow him to recapture his form and confidence at his own pace. Some time away from the limelight could do the youngster a world of good and help him regain his rhythm.

It remains to be seen where the talented young attacker ends up in the summer. He has the quality to play for a top club. And there is unlikely to be a shortage of suitors if he is made available during the summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, Barcelona need a number of reinforcements and must raise funds through sales to bring in new players. The Catalan giants are going through financial difficulties. And the opportunity to cash in on Fati by recouping €100 million is likely to be a tempting proposition for them.
