Barcelona will seriously consider a deal part-exchange deal to sign Ruben Neves, with 20-year-old prodigy Ansu Fati joining Wolverhampton Wanderers.

According to reputed Spanish journalist Toni Juanmarti, Barcelona might agree to a part-exchange deal to sign Ruben Neves. Jorge Mendes is working on a deal that will see the Blaugrana land the Portuguese international plus cash. But struggling 20-year-old prodigy Ansu Fati will join Wolverhampton Wanderers in this arrangement.

Ansu Fati has seen his progress come to a grinding halt following two long-term injuries. The Spanish international was once the heir apparent to Lionel Messi. But the fitness issues have hampered him considerably, and he is no longer a consistent performer for Barcelona.

On the other hand, Ruben Neves has been a pivotal figure for Wolverhampton Wanderers since arriving from FC Porto in July 2017. His decision to leave UEFA Champions League football for EFL Championship raised many eyebrows. But the Portuguese international has helped the Black Country outfit become a mainstay in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old has turned out nearly 250 times thus far for Wolverhampton Wanderers, chipping in with 30 goals and 12 assists. But Neves’s long-term future is seemingly away from the Molineux. And several high-profile clubs, including Barcelona, are keen on signing the Portuguese midfielder.

Recent reports have claimed that Jorge Mendes has been pushing Barcelona to sign his client this summer. But Xavi is reportedly not too keen on having the Wolverhampton Wanderers skipper in his squad. However, the latest update might turn Xavi and Barcelona’s heads, with Mendes working on a part-exchange deal.

Such an arrangement will see Ansu Fati joining Wolverhampton Wanderers and Neves moving to Barcelona. In addition, the Blaugrana will receive cash from the Premier League club, making it an appealing prospect. And a part-exchange deal might also benefit Barcelona on the Financial Fair Play front as they can offset the 20-year-old prodigy’s wages and fee.

The Catalan giants are reportedly keen on offloading Fati to balance their books. And bolstering the midfield unit while doing so might appeal to them. But it will be interesting to see if Jorge Mendes can hash out a part-exchange deal involving Neves and Fati.
