Newcastle United are leading the race for the signatures of Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney who is on the radar of Manchester City.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are leading the race for the signatures of Kieran Tierney. The 25-year-old full-back has fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal and is all set to part ways with the club. Even Manchester City are keen on acquiring his services. But, at this point in time, the Magpies are ahead of others.

Tierney came through the ranks at Celtic before making a move to Arsenal in the summer of 2019. The 25-year-old did manage to establish himself as a regular in their first team in the initial few years. But, things have not gone according to plan in the ongoing season.

The Scottish international has struggled with injuries and he has fallen out of favour post the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City. He has featured in a total of 34 matches but has been on the pitch for just over 1,400 minutes.

The 25-year-old is not happy with the limited game time that he has had and wants to look for a better opportunity elsewhere. He has already had a conversation with people at the club. And, both parties have agreed that a transfer to another club will be the ideal solution.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United and Manchester City are interested in his services. City have been without a left-back post the departure of Joao Cancelo to Bayern Munich. While he will return to the club in the summer, Cancelo is likely to be sold.

As a result, they are in search of a new left-sided full-back who can fill the void. And, Guardiola wants to have the Arsenal defender in his ranks. However, they are behind Newcastle in the pursuit of the 25-year-old.

The Magpies are planning to further strengthen their squad. They want to bring in a new left-back and have Tierney as a potential target. The full-back is also keen on joining the Magpies as the move will bring him closer to his family in Scotland. And, he is also excited by the fact that he will get to feature in the Champions League with Newcastle as they are all set to finish inside the top four in the Premier League.
