Newcastle United are prioritising a move for Kieran Tierney and leads the chase ahead of Manchester City and others.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle United are leading the chase for Kieran Tierney. The £30 million-rated Manchester City target could depart Arsenal for a new challenge, but he does have plenty of offers to contemplate.

Since Kieran Tierney was linked with a move to Newcastle United, the point about getting closer to his family has been reported plenty of times. While that’s not necessarily the case for a footballer to decide his next destination, the Magpies do have a strong appeal for the Scotsman.

Tierney arrived at Arsenal in a £25 million deal from Celtic in 2019. He has since established himself as their first-choice left-back, which has remained the case until the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer, with the Ukrainian now a preferred choice to start the game.

Tierney has not shown discontent at his new role, which in hindsight, does make him a regular in the first team. He has made 24 appearances for Arsenal but might look for a new opportunity. Newcastle United have been keen to bring him as Eddie Howe considers the £30 million-rated star a priority ahead of the summer window.

There’s a feeling within Arsenal circles that £30 million could prove sufficient to sign the Scotsman, but the Gunners could demand more in the current market. Manchester City are also keen on the left-back, but there are complications in brokering a deal.

Reports of Arsenal and Manchester City considering a swap deal involving Tierney and Joao Cancelo emerged recently. That may become a solution for both sides to find solutions for their respective problems, but Newcastle United could feel they are leading the chase.

Tierney’s situation could get into complex waters if Arsenal demand more money. The £30 million-rated Manchester City target has a long-term prospect and could aid Newcastle United’s squad for many years.

He will also add valuable experience with Newcastle likely to play in the Champions League next season. Tierney last played in the competition while at Celtic, but he will prove an important addition for Howe. However, the Magpies must swiftly bring the left back to St James Park.

Overall, Tierney could have plenty of options when the season ends. Manchester City may have an appeal. But in truth, the idea of moving up north could make the left-back think about Newcastle United.
