Champions League chasing Newcastle United are reportedly confident of signing Kieran Tierney from Arsenal this summer in a deal that is expected to cost around £30 million.

According to The Sun, wantaway Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney is increasingly likely to make a summer switch to Newcastle United as Eddie Howe looks to recruit more dynamism on the left side of his backline.

While Arsenal are absolutely flying and competing for a long-awaited Premier League title, Tierney has had a frustrating season on an individual basis. Although he has made 31 appearances this season, having had a hand in three goals (one goal, two assists), he has only started five Premier League games.

The Gunners spent £25 million to sign Tierney from Scottish champions Celtic in 2019, and the 25-year-old made a promising start to his career in north London. Despite consistently struggling with injuries upon his arrival, Tierney quickly became a firm fan favourite with his electrifying displays on the left.

Up until the start of the current campaign, Tierney was an undisputed starter in the rearguard, but the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City has forced the 25-year-old to accept a bench-warming role this season.

As a result, he is now being touted to leave the Emirates in search of regular game time, and the Scot is believed to be open to joining a new club in the summer. As such, a whole host of Premier League clubs are interested in securing his services. However, Newcastle United have been dubbed the most likely landing spot given Eddie Howe’s men are one of the favourites to secure Champions League football for next season.

The Sun has reported that there is now a confident feeling at St. James’ Park that they will land the full-back for the club this summer. Eddie Howe, who will be keen to strengthen his Newcastle squad following a spectacular season, has relied on natural centre-back Dan Burn at left-back for most of the current campaign.

Burn has been superb for his boyhood club. But Howe is anticipated to sign a new left-back this summer as he plans for Newcastle’s likely return to the Champions League. The veteran defender will probably have a future at the team in a bit-part capacity, even if Tierney makes a move to Newcastle, because of how frequently Howe has praised the imposing defender.

With Tierney under contract at the Emirates for another three years, Newcastle could apparently be asked to pay £30 million to sign the 25-year-old, who won’t decide on his future until the end of the current campaign. If a transfer from Arsenal to Newcastle goes through, Kieran Tierney would represent an incredible value given the quality and wealth of experience he would bring to the team on the rise.
