Barcelona will reportedly need to pay only a miserly €5 million to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Chelsea this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona might be able to afford Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Chelsea will demand only €5 million to part ways with the beleaguered striker in the summer transfer window. Barcelona will thus have the golden opportunity to sign the former Arsenal captain.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has suffered a fall from grace since rising to the role of Arsenal’s captain a few years ago. Soon after Mikel Arteta entrusted the veteran striker with the added responsibility, the two parties started having run-ins. And the Gabonese attacker joined Barcelona last year after Arteta banished him from Arsenal.

The 33-year-old took no time to make his mark at Spotify Camp Nou, ending the 2022/23 season as Barcelona’s joint-top scorer. But Aubameyang’s stint with Barcelona ended after just six months. And he returned to the Premier League last summer, with Chelsea signing him on the deadline day.

Thomas Tuchel requested Chelsea to sign the former Arsenal captain. But the German tactician did not last long, leaving Chelsea just one month into the new season. And Aubameyang’s stock has fallen considerably since then, as he has managed only 961 minutes of game time. The fact that he has scored only three goals has not helped the player’s case either.

Aubameyang’s stint with Chelsea will likely end in the summer transfer window. And Barcelona will look to re-sign the 33-year-old after chasing him in January. The Catalan giants have now learned how much Chelsea will demand to part ways with the beleaguered striker.

The Blues want a derisory €5 million to sell Aubameyang in the summer transfer window. And while Barcelona would have preferred to re-sign the Gabonese striker for free, €5 million might fit the club’s budget. Meanwhile, the player is pushing to rejoin Barcelona, even suggesting the same in a recent video.

It will be interesting to see if Barcelona will be ready to shell out €5 million to secure Aubameyang’s services this summer. But Chelsea’s derisory asking price has given Barcelona a window of opportunity to re-sign the veteran striker for cheap.
