Carlo Ancelotti reportedly wants Real Madrid to sign 29-year-old Chelsea attacker Romelu Lukaku, currently on loan at Inter Milan.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Carlo Ancelotti is clear about who he wants as an attacking reinforcement in the summer transfer window. The Real Madrid boss wants Los Blancos to sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea. Meanwhile, Inter Milan will not secure the striker’s services permanently.
Romelu Lukaku has endured a fall from grace in the last two seasons. The 29-year-old was on top of the world 18 months ago after guiding Inter Milan to the Serie A title. But a record move to Chelsea did not work out as envisioned, as he failed to make his mark under Thomas Tuchel.
The Belgian international returned to Inter Milan on loan last summer but has suffered from fitness issues. But he has a solid record of nine goals and three assists in 26 appearances this term. Meanwhile, Lukaku’s market value has fallen to €40 million. But the player remains a popular figure in the market, with Real Madrid interested in him.
Real Madrid will likely delve into the market for a striker in the summer transfer window. That is because Karim Benzema has suffered a few injuries this season. In addition, Mariano Diaz will likely depart at the end of the season to try to resurrect his career. That will leave Carlo Ancelotti with Benzema as the only striker at his disposal.
With Ancelotti keen on managing Benzema’s fitness next season, signing a striker is imperative for Real Madrid. And the Italian tactician will push Real Madrid to pursue Lukaku in the summer transfer window. Los Blancos will thus likely launch the offensive for the 29-year-old when he returns to Chelsea.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan will not re-sign Lukaku permanently in the summer transfer window. The Serie A giants do not have the means to afford the Chelsea loanee. On the other hand, Real Madrid will have the funds to secure the Belgian’s services if they turn their interest into a serious pursuit.
