Liverpool have scouted 20-year-old Chelsea prospect Levi Colwill multiple times this season as they could approach the Tottenham target.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool could approach Levi Colwill in the summer. The Merseysiders have reportedly scouted the 20-year-old Chelsea prospect multiple times this season but face competition from Tottenham for the defender.

Levi Colwill’s future will become a hotly-contested subject in the summer as the 20-year-old Chelsea prospect makes a firm decision. With the Blues continuing to scour the market for a new centre-back, the player will ponder over a long-term stay here.

The Blues decided to send him on loan to Brighton, where he has had a fantastic season under Roberto De Zerbi. As there is no buy option in the loan deal, he will return to Chelsea in the summer, although his future remains uncertain at Stamford Bridge.

Colwill will have a year left on his Chelsea deal, and his parent club has already made expensive buys in the central defensive position. They remain linked with names like Josko Gvardiol. And if the Croat or someone else arrives, Colwill will look to depart.

Chelsea are also walking the Financial Fairplay tightrope, suggesting they could sell a few of their homegrown stars. Colwill is among those who could get the club a massive profit considering his academy status. Alternatively, the London side are not keen on selling him for now. But circumstances could force their hand.

With his performances for Brighton, there is no shortage of interest, with Liverpool among those keeping tabs. Jurgen Klopp is keen on signing a new central defender who could occupy the left-hand side. He ideally wants someone who could replace Virgil van Dijk in the long term but could start playing from next season onwards.

Liverpool have reportedly watched Colwill multiple times this season while in action for Brighton. They could make an approach for the 20-year-old Chelsea prospect in the summer, although they face tremendous competition from Premier League rivals.

Tottenham are also interested in signing the 20-year-old Chelsea prospect but may find it difficult to deal with the Blues. The Stamford Bridge outfit may remain wary of selling one of their promising talents to their London rivals, meaning Liverpool could have the upper hand in the chase.

Liverpool would look at Colwill and consider him a decent option to strengthen their defence. He could also become available at a reasonable price considering the one year left in his contract. For now, he will return to Chelsea in the summer, with the club and player likely to decide on his future.
