Manchester City will reportedly compete with Manchester United and Real Madrid in the race to sign Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich.

According to a report by 90min, Benjamin Pavard is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Premier League champions have registered their interest in the Bayern Munich defender. The 27-year-old World Cup winner is also a target for Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Benjamin Pavard has been one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga since leaving LOSC Lille in August 2016. Since then, his stock has skyrocketed, winning the World Cup with France in 2018 while lifting several titles with Bayern Munich. And the Frenchman has been a regular for Bayern in the last four seasons.

The 27-year-old has turned out over 150 times for Bayern Munich, chipping in with 11 goals and 12 assists. But Pavard’s long-term future is uncertain after entering the final 18 months of his deal. Such a situation has captured the attention of several European bigwigs, including Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Manchester City.

The World Cup winner has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. And recent reports have claimed that the Merengues want to sign the player in the 2024 summer transfer window. But they have seemingly registered their interest to land him this year. And with Dani Carvajal blowing hot and cold, Real Madrid can do with the Bayern Munich defender.

As for Manchester United, Aaron Wan-Bissaka faces an uncertain future despite rising in stature in the last few months. And with Diogo Dalot not being consistent enough in the last few weeks, Pavard will be an upgrade. So it is hardly surprising that Manchester United might look to sign the 27-year-old.

But Real Madrid and Manchester United face stiff competition from Manchester City for the French international. Manchester City and Bayern Munich are discussing a possible permanent deal for Joao Cancelo. And if Cancelo joins Bayern permanently, Pavard’s exit might be on the cards.
