Manchester United are interested in acquiring the services of Bayern Munich full-back Benjamin Pavard ahead of next season.

According to The Athletic, Manchester United are keen on having Benjamin Pavard in their ranks. The Bayern Munich full-back is admired by those at Old Trafford, and they could push for his services in the summer as they look to further strengthen their team ahead of next season.

Erik ten Hag has done a great job since taking charge of Manchester United ahead of the ongoing season. He has already won a trophy and could still add to it. But, the Dutch manager has identified a few areas that need reinforcement if they want to push for major titles. Ten Hag’s team are expected to push for a new attacking right-back in the summer. And, they are interested in Pavard.

The 27-year-old has been at Bayern Munich since the summer of 2019. The French World Cup winner has gone from strength to strength during his time with the German giants. He has featured in over 150 matches for the team in red and has 23 goal contributions to his name.

As far as the ongoing season is concerned, the 27-year-old has seven goal contributions in 33 outings. His contract at the club run until the summer of 2024. And, at this point in time, there are no real talks of an extension.

At the end of the season, he will only have 12 months left on his contract. And, if Bayern fail to extend his contract, they might look to offload him. Manchester United are well aware of the situation and have already held exploratory talks for the 27-year-old World Cup-winning right-back.

Erik ten Hag is desperate to add an attacking right-back alongside a striker and central midfielder. While Aaron Wan-Bissaka has done well in the second half of the season, he is expected to part ways with the club in the summer. And, Manchester United are already working on extending the contract of Diogo Dalot.

If Wan-Bissaka is sold, they will definitely sign a new full-back. And, they have already identified Pavard as a potential option. The 27-year-old is known for his attacking attributes alongside his great defensive work rate. And, ten Hag believes he could be a great fit for the club.

With just over 12 months left on his existing contract, Manchester United have already enquired about the World Cup winner. However, it will be interesting to see if they manage to sign him, given the fact that Bayern will give it their all to extend his contract.
