AC Milan defender Theo Hernandez has been linked with a summer move to Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, as relayed by Fichajes, AC Milan are already looking at potential replacements for Theo Hernandez, who has been a key player for them. Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the French international, whose market value is €60 million.

Theo Hernandez has been an exceptional player for AC Milan since joining the club. And he was picked to be a part of the Serie A team of the year for the last three seasons. Premier League clubs Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur have been keen on signing the player. And it remains to be seen whether AC Milan agree to let the player leave in the summer.

The report claims that Milan are going through financial difficulties. In addition, there is a possibility that they could miss out on Champions League qualification. That could force them to sell key players if the right offer is presented.

Chelsea could certainly use the quality left-back, especially after the underwhelming performances from summer signing Marc Cucurella. The Blues have also shown interest in other players, including Alejandro Balde.

Meanwhile, Tottenham will also have to find their upgrade on players like Ryan Sessegnon and Ben Davies. Both Premier League clubs need to bring in a specialist left-back at the end of the season. And Hernandez certainly fits the profile.

The French defender has the potential to develop into one of the best defenders in the Premier League, and he has already proven his quality for club and country. If AC Milan are prepared to let the player leave for a reasonable price, he could prove to be an exceptional acquisition for the two London clubs. Hernandez has a market value of €60 million.

Tottenham will feel that they could have an edge in the transfer race especially because they are on course to secure Champions League qualification for the next season. Chelsea, on the other hand, are in the bottom half of the table. So it is highly unlikely that they will play in the Champions League next year.

A player like Hernandez will want to play in the premier European competition. So he could look to join a club with Champions League football. That said, Chelsea have far more financial resources compared to Tottenham, and they could look to turn the player’s head with a lucrative offer to Milan and substantial wages to him.
