Barcelona will reportedly look to sign Dani Olmo, a target for Real Madrid, in a Bosman move in the 2024 summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona and Real Madrid want to sign Dani Olmo. The Catalan giants wish to secure his services in a Bosman move in the 2024 summer transfer window. On the other hand, Real Madrid will look to secure his services this year. And RB Leipzig will demand €40 million to part ways with the Spanish international.

Dani Olmo was once a trainee in Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy. The 24-year-old reached the under-18 level at the Catalan club but did not graduate from the youth division. And instead of that, he chose to move abroad and rose to prominence at Dinamo Zagreb.

Olmo’s stint with Dinamo Zagreb ended in January 2020 when he joined RB Leipzig. But injuries have plagued the Spanish international at the Red Bull Arena. That has sent his market value down to €40 million. Meanwhile, the player has chipped in with four goals and six assists in 20 outings this term. Meanwhile, he is a target for Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Barcelona attempted to re-sign the Spaniard in the last few transfer windows, but a move never materialised. But the Catalan giants remain keen on bringing him back to Camp Nou. However, Barcelona cannot afford to pay much to sign players in the summer transfer window.

So the Blaugrana will look to secure Olmo’s services in the 2024 summer transfer window. But that is a risky proposition, considering several clubs can pounce on such a situation this year. And Real Madrid might look to bring the 24-year-old back to Spain ahead of the 2023/24 season.

The reigning La Liga champions want to sign a successor to Luka Modric as soon as possible. And Jude Bellingham is the priority target for Real Madrid heading into the summer transfer window. But the English international is highly sought-after, forcing Real Madrid to look for alternatives. Olmo has thus emerged as a viable target.

RB Leipzig will demand around €40 million to part ways with the Spanish international this year. But it is unclear if Real Madrid will shell out such a sum to sign Olmo in the summer. Meanwhile, Barcelona might want to reach out to the player’s entourage and coax him to wait for a year.
