Real Madrid and Manchester City could sign Rafael Leao at a knocked-down price of €60 million as AC Milan seems destined to give up.

According to Fichajes, Rafael Leao could leave AC Milan in the summer for as low as €60 million. The Serie A giants seem destined to give up on renewing his contract, thus boosting the chances of Real Madrid and Manchester City in the pursuit.

AC Milan may have tried their best shot at renewing Rafael Leao’s contract at San Siro. The Rossoneri are about to give up on the Portuguese international and could entertain offers in the summer. The 23-year-old remains the prized asset of the San Siro outfit, but they could force a sale.

At one stage, Milan had placed a price tag exceeding the €100 million mark after some tremendous performances from Leao. The Portuguese international was named Serie A’s MVP as Milan swept the domestic title last season. However, things have gone differently for players and the club, fighting to stay alive in the top four.

After prolonged negotiations with Leao’s entourage Milan seemed destined to renew his contract despite his over-complicated demands, the Portuguese international owes a significant amount of money to former club Sporting CP and wanted Milan to share the burden.

While there was no consensus from the Rossoneri board to do so, clubs like Chelsea offered a way out. The Blues were considered front runners for the 23-year-old attacker, but their January splurge on Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke suggests they are willing to move on.

However, Manchester City remain interested in the forward, with pep Guardiola reportedly a great admirer of Leao’s talents. The Catalan manager wants the club to sign him as he looks for a new variety of wide forward. For the Cityzens, the higher price tag may not have mattered if they seriously liked the player.

The same goes for Real Madrid, who are keen on signing Leao. The report claims that the Portuguese international could become available for a knocked-down €60 million price tag. The story suggests Milan would ideally want at least €85 million but will hope to achieve at least €60 million.

Real Madrid may consider a move for Leao after taking notice of the situation. The attacking requirements at the club could materialise in a bid for the Portuguese international during the summer window. The Spanish giants are one of the formidable forces, with every player wanting to play.

Economically, Leao might consider an approach from Manchester City or even Chelsea if they are to rekindle their interest. The 23-year-old could weigh in on his financial troubles in the immediate future and possibly look for a way out of the problem.

Manchester City could offer him lucrative terms compared to Real Madrid. However, there’s nothing decided so far, with the race relatively open. Milan might make another attempt at keeping the player at the San Siro. However, a sale could be on the cards if they fail again.
