Barcelona will reportedly demand €35 million to part ways with 23-year-old Spanish international Ferran Torres this summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Ferran Torres might not be a Barcelona player for much longer. The Catalan giants want to sell the 23-year-old in the summer transfer window. And the Blaugrana will demand €35 million to part ways with the underperforming winger.
Ferran Torres spent his formative years with boyhood club Valencia before graduating to the first-team squad half a decade ago. And after a couple of years with Los Che’s first team, the Spanish international moved to England in 2020. But he made gradual progress at the Etihad before abruptly ending his stint last year.
The 23-year-old’s stint with Manchester City ended in January 2022 as he joined Barcelona in a deal worth €55 million. But Torres has failed to progress as well as he would have liked. And he has been a bit-part player for Barcelona in the ongoing season. As a result, his market value has fallen to €35 million.
While the Spaniard has scored five goals and provided an assist, he has started only 14 games thus far. And with Barcelona in the market for a wide attacker, Torres’s days at Spotify Camp Nou seem numbered. Widespread reports have also suggested that Barcelona will be open to selling him in the summer.
The Catalan giants need to balance their books before dipping their toes in the market for a new signing. So Barcelona’s stance about retaining Torres’s services beyond the summer makes sense. And they have now set a price tag of €35 million to part ways with the player.
Barcelona will take a heavy loss on the investment of €55 million if they sell him for €35 million. But the 23-year-old Spanish international does not have many suitors either. That said, he has recently popped up on the radar of Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.
It will be interesting to see if more clubs join the race to sign Ferran Torres from Barcelona this summer. But signing a still-promising winger like the 23-year-old Spanish international for €35 million is an attractive prospect.
