Barcelona are reportedly open to selling Ferran Torres in the summer if the attacker’s situation remains unchanged under Xavi Hernandez.

According to Fichajes, Barcelona could consider selling Ferran Torres in the summer if they can receive reasonable offers for the winger. The former Manchester City attacker continues to struggle for relevance under Xavi Hernandez, and if the situation remains unchanged, a sale could become imminent. The player is a target for Arsenal.

Ferran Torres was supposed to begin a new revolution at Barcelona under Xavi Hernandez when the Spaniard requested president Joan Laporta to sign the winger last January. But after a bright start to life at Camp Nou, the attacker slowly drifted away into irrelevance.

Since the start of the current season, the Barcelona winger has often found himself on the bench rather than starting games. Xavi had preferred to go with summer arrival Raphinha and Ousmane Dembele on the wings. And in recent games, Gavi has come in that position.

Ferran Torres is down in the pecking order and could consider his options. There were reports of interest from Arsenal in the Barcelona winger, and they even reportedly held talks to find out if a move in January was possible.

With the Catalans not expecting any transfer activity this month, Xavi was keen to keep hold of his current squad for the remainder of the campaign. Hence, they had no plans to sell Torres amid interest from Arsenal in a winger, which might change in the summer.

Barcelona have been under serious financial distress for the last many months. They might have to pull out a few significant sales if they plan to strengthen their squad further. Considering they paid around €55 million for Torres, the Catalan outfit may expect to recoup most of the sum if a sale materialises.

Arsenal could jump in for the Barcelona winger if they cannot get other targets. Mikel Arteta admires the Spanish international. And the fact that the Catalan giants are considering a sale will boost the Gunners. But a move will only be possible in the summer instead of this month.

Ideally, suitors will look to wrap up a deal for less than what the Catalan giants may want for the winger. Barcelona, however, will look for decent market value and recoup funds that would let them target other, more important players to bolster their squad.
