Tottenham are keen on signing Ferran Torres, with Barcelona likely to entertain offers and raise funds through unwanted players.

According to Calcio Mercato, Tottenham are reportedly interested in Ferran Torres. They could move for the 23-year-old Barcelona forward in the summer. The Catalans could deem the winger unwanted and sell him for much-needed funds for their transfers.

Ferran Torres became one of the first big-name arrivals since Xavi Hernandez took over as Barcelona’s manager. The former midfielder reportedly demanded the Spanish international, and the club obliged by paying around €55 million for the former Man City star.

Despite big expectations from Torres, he has barely come close to delivering on those. Despite making 33 appearances across all competitions, Torres has produced only five goals and a single assist. Xavi has often preferred him on the substitutes’ bench, which has questioned his future.

Several Premier League sides, including Arsenal and Tottenham, enquired about his availability in January, but Torres wanted to stay and fight for his place. The player may continue to hold that stance, which may differ from what the Catalans think.

Amid financial problems at various levels, the Spanish giants could allow a few players to depart to raise funds for new transfers. Barcelona could sell Torres if a reasonable offer arrives. They expect it to be below the €55 million they paid Manchester City just over a year ago.

Tottenham reportedly retains an interest and could make enquiries about Torres for the summer window. The report suggests Spurs could appoint Luis Enrique, making their task of signing the 23-year-old easier.

Tottenham could make a few changes to their attacking lineup, with Richarlison suspected of departing the club then. The Brazilian has not performed to the expected levels, as he seems more like a flop signing considering the enormous fee Spurs paid in the summer.

Spurs or any other club would expect Torres to have a reduced price tag in the summer. A move could help all three parties concerned. The 23-year-old Barcelona forward could have a marginalised role next season if he continues with Barcelona.
