Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United have been handed a blow in their pursuit of Ajax attacker Mohammed Kudus.

A report from 90min claims that Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United were hoping to make a move for Mohammed Kudus at the end of the season. But the 22-year-old is keen on signing a new deal with Ajax.

Kudus has been a key player for Ajax, and he has 22 goals to his name across all competitions. He managed to impress at the 2022 FIFA World Cup as well. But the Ghanaian international has revealed in an interview that he is open to signing a new contract with Ajax because he is playing well for the club and has developed at an impressive rate.

He said, “I am very happy at Ajax at the moment, but I will be even happier if we win the double. Why wouldn’t I want to renew? I play and develop well. Now it’s about negotiation and valuation. When the time is right, we’ll see how it goes. But that will have to be conducted with my agent. I want to focus entirely on the title race.”

Arsenal need to add a quality attacker to their ranks, and Kudus would have been a superb acquisition. The Ajax star can play anywhere across the front three, and he would have been the ideal alternative to players like Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus. The 22-year-old would have added creativity and goals to the Arsenal attack.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are looking to bring in a reliable goalscorer who can lead the line for them. Kudus has shown that he is capable of playing centrally. And Erik ten Hag will know all about him, having worked with the player during his time managing Ajax.

As for Liverpool, they have struggled to score goals consistently this season. The Reds have been overly reliant on Mohamed Salah. So Jurgen Klopp needs to bring in another goalscorer. The likes of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo are still getting to grips with English football. Meanwhile, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz have missed a major chunk of the season through injuries.

It remains to be seen whether the three Premier League clubs decide to come forward with a concrete proposal for the 22-goal attacker in the summer. They certainly have the finances to tempt Ajax into selling their prized asset.
