Real Madrid will reportedly mull over signing 25-year-old Argentine international Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Lautaro Martinez is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are considering signing the World Cup winner in the summer transfer window. And Inter Milan will demand around €80 million to part ways with him.

Lautaro Martinez has gone from strength to strength since arriving in Europe several years ago. The Argentine international started his professional career at Racing Club before moving to Inter Milan in July 2018. And he has also been a regular for his national side, with whom he won the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The 25-year-old is also enjoying a solid 2022/23 season, particularly since the World Cup break ended. Martinez has 17 goals and seven assists in 35 appearances across all competitions. And the player’s progress has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid.

Real Madrid will likely dip into the market for a striker in the summer transfer window. While Karim Benzema is no closer to retiring, his fitness issues have forced Real Madrid into the market. And with Mariano Diaz likely to depart from the Santiago Bernabeu, Los Blancos will need a replacement.

Several strikers, including Dusan Vlahovic, have thus popped up on Real Madrid’s radar over a possible summer move. And another Serie A-based centre-forward has emerged as a target for them. The said player is Lautaro Martinez, whose stock is rising with every passing performance.

Inter Milan, whose financial situation is unstable, will demand around €80 million to part ways with the World Cup winner. That should not deter Real Madrid from launching the offensive for the 25-year-old. But Los Blancos will face stiff competition from several Premier League clubs for the player.

Recent reports have also claimed that the Argentine international is open to joining Arsenal. But the lure of playing for Real Madrid might trump the interest from Premier League clubs. And it will be interesting to see if the reigning La Liga champions offer €80 million to secure the services of the World Cup winner.
