La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly interested in Portuguese striker Goncalo Ramos, who has a release clause worth €120 million.

According to a report by Mundo Deportivo, Goncalo Ramos is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions are considering signing the Portuguese striker in the summer transfer window. And he has a release clause worth €120 million in his deal with Benfica.

Goncalo Ramos spent his formative years with SC Olhanense and CB Loule before graduating from the Benfica academy. And the 21-year-old has gradually risen in prominence, although he is one of the best young strikers in the world. But Darwin Nunez’s departure has liberated Ramos, who has been top-notch this season.

The Portuguese striker has amassed 23 goals and nine assists in 34 appearances across all competitions. At the same time, the player has established a foothold in the Portuguese national squad in the last twelve months. In addition, Ramos’s progress has captured the attention of several top clubs, including Real Madrid.

Real Madrid might have to dip into the market for a striker in the summer transfer window. That is because Mariano Diaz will likely depart from the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season. In addition, Karim Benzema has suffered from some fitness issues in the ongoing campaign.

So it behoves Real Madrid to invest in a striker who can initially be Benzema’s backup before taking over as the first-choice striker. Several strikers have thus popped up on Real Madrid’s radar. And Goncalo Ramos has also emerged as a target for the reigning La Liga champions.

The Portuguese striker is only 21 years old and can potentially offer over a decade of service to Real Madrid. But Benfica might demand a premium for him, considering his release clause is worth €120 million. Widespread reports have also suggested that the Portuguese giants will ask the suitors to trigger the exit clause.

It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid will be open to shelling out €120 million to sign Ramos. For now, the Portuguese striker has emerged as an attractive target for Los Blancos as his stock continues to rise.
